Syrian Expert House Opens Offices on Syrian Border

Dughaim, Jobran Appointed Office Directors

Washington, DC – On December 17, 2013, the Syrian Center for Political and Strategic Studies announced the opening of two Syrian Expert House offices on the Syrian border in Turkey. The offices, opened in Reyhanli and Gaziantep, will serve as outreach and coordination headquarters for the Syrian Expert House, a group of over 300 opposition leaders and activists. SCPSS and the Syrian Expert House recently published Syria Transition Roadmap, a comprehensive opposition vision of the post-conflict political transition in Syria. Dr. Mohamed Dughaim, the Reyhanli Office Director, and Dr. Hasan Jobran, the Gaziantep Office Director, will be responsible for reaching out to the Syrian community in Turkey and Northern Syrian regarding the recommendations presented in the roadmap.

 

Dr. Mohamed Dughaim, in addition to Reyhanli Office Director, is a member of the Political and Administrative reform working group of the Syrian Expert House, a member of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, and a member of the general secretariat of the Syrian National Council. He earned a doctorate in Marine Geochemistry from the University of Alexandria in Egypt in 2005.

 

Dr. Hasan Jobran, in addition to Gaziantep Office Director, is Senior Researcher of the Security Sector Reform working group of the Syrian Expert House and the head of the Research and Studies Office of the Free Syrian Academics Union in Gaziantep, Turkey. Previously, he was the vice dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities for Scientific Affairs at Aleppo University. He has held positions at a number of universities and was a project advisor for the Syria 2025 project administered by the United Nations Development Program in 2006. He received a doctorate in the sociology of development and social change and a master’s degree in sociology, both from Damascus University.
