Syrian Expert House, Interim Government Sign Memorandum of Understanding

MoU to Focus on Transitional Justice, Economic Recovery, and Rule of Law

Washington, DC – On December 18, 2013, the Syrian Interim Government and the Syrian Expert House signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding plans for collaboration in implementing the recommendations published by the Syrian Expert House in Syria Transition Roadmap. The agreement, signed by Dr. Radwan Ziadeh, executive director of the Syrian Center for Political and Strategic Studies and founder of the Syrian Expert House, and Prime Minister Ahmed Touma of the Syrian Interim Government, outlines the intention of the two entities to cooperated extensively on future projects relating to Rule of Law, Transitional Justice, Security Sector Reform, Economic Reform, and National Dialogue.

Through various commissions and ministries, the Syrian Interim Government seeks to immediately implement aid, development, reconstruction, and reconciliation programs throughout the liberated areas of Syria. The Syrian Expert House will serve as an administrative and expert advisory body in the planning and execution of these programs.

 

Syria Transition Roadmap is the result of a year-long consensus-building research process conducted by the Syrian Expert House, a group of approximately 300 Syrian human rights activists, academics, judges, lawyers, leaders of the political opposition, defected government officials, defected military officers, members of local revolutionary councils, and commanders of the armed opposition.
