Syrian Expert House Delegation to Visit Brussels and Paris

European Endowment for Democracy to Hold Public Event on Syria Transition Roadmap in Brussels on March 24

Washington, DC – From March 24 to March 29, 2014 a delegation from the Syrian Expert House, will travel to Brussels, Belgium and Paris, France to brief key European policy makers, officials from the European Parliament, representatives from Belgian and French foreign ministries, and civil society organizations on Syria Transition Roadmap, a document recently published by the Syrian Center for Political and Strategic Studies and the Syrian Expert House on the post-conflict democratic political transition in Syria.


In Brussels, the Syrian delegation, which includes activists coming directly from inside Syria, will give a presentation on Syria Transition Roadmap at a public event hosted by the European Endowment for Democracy (EED) and brief a variety of high-level European Union diplomats, representatives of the Belgian government, and civil society organizations on the report. Journalists and the general public are welcome to attend the event, which will be held on March 24 at 4:00 pm at the EED office in Brussels. The delegation will then travel to France to hold similar meetings with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Paris-based international organizations.


The Syrian delegation will include: Dr. Radwan Ziadeh, Executive Director of the Syrian Center for Political and Strategic Studies, President of the Syrian Commission for Transitional Justice, and Team Leader of the Syrian Expert House Working Group on Transitional Justice and National Reconciliation; Badr Jamous, Secretary-General of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces; Ekhlass Badawi, a former Syrian MP and a member of the Syrian Expert House Working Group on Political and Administrative Reform; Reem Joha a female activist based in Aleppo, Syria and a member of the Syrian Expert House; Mohamed Dughaim a professor and activist from Idlib, Syria and Director of the Syrian Expert House Reyhanli Office.


Syria Transition Roadmap, an opposition vision of the democratic political transition in Syria, covers the topics of constitutional reform, political and administrative reform, electoral reform, economic reform, transitional justice, and security sector reform and has been endorsed by the Syrian National Coalition and the Syrian Interim Government.
