Syrian Expert House Delegation Visits Moscow

Key Russian Policy Makers to be Briefed on Syria Transition Roadmap

Washington, DC – From April 14 to 18, 2014 a delegation from the Syrian Expert House is traveling to Moscow, Russia to brief key Russian policy makers and civil society organizations on Syria Transition Roadmap, a document recently published by the Syrian Center for Political and Strategic Studies and the Syrian Expert House on the democratic political transition in Syria.

In Moscow, the Syrian Expert House delegation will meet with a variety of high-level diplomats and representatives of the Russian government, including Mikhail Bogdanov, the Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, to discuss the current situation on the ground, Syria Transition Roadmap, and plans for ensuring accountability in Syria’s democratic future. The delegation will also meet with a variety of representatives of civil-society organizations.

 

Additionally, on Thursday, April 17 at 4:00 pm, the Syrian Expert House delegation will hold a press conference at RIA Novosti to meet with the Russian press. The delegation will discuss its meetings with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and future plans with regard to the democratic transition and transitional justice. Dr. Radwan Ziadeh – Executive Director of the Syrian Center for Political and Strategic Studies, President of the Syrian Commission for Transitional Justice

Dr. Monzer Makhous – Representative in Paris, National Coalition of Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces

 

Dr. Mahmoud al-Hamza – Chairman of the National Council of the Damascus Declaration Abroad

 

Syria Transition Roadmap, an opposition vision of the democratic political transition in Syria, covers the topics of constitutional reform, political and administrative reform, electoral reform, economic reform, transitional justice, and security sector reform and has been endorsed by the Syrian National Coalition and the Syrian Interim Government.
